Welfare Officer

Our Welfare Officer

I’ve been with the club since 2004 as a parent of a football mad lad.  In 2007 my youngest son joined the club too and so I felt that I really should help the club a bit more and was pleased to accept the position of club Welfare Officer (CWO) in May 2007.

I am a Police Sargeant of many years service and I feel that this helps me keep an objective view of the matters that I have to consider from time to time.

The Welfare Officer role has changed dramatically over this period with the club growing rapidly as well as a number of recommendations and guidelines being set by the Football Association.

I believe that it is essential that the CWO is approachable with a child-centred outlook and I hope that I possess both of these characteristics.

I have attended Safeguarding Children in Football workshops as well as Welfare Officer training workshops and hold a current Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

My role as CWO covers a number of duties to ensure the safety  and protection of club members and as such, I am a member of the club committee.

If you would like to know more about the clubs child protection policies or to discuss any concerns/questions you may have, please do not hesitate to contact me at welfare@jbjfc.org.uk
