Referees – Guidance

Below is some guidance on Referees from James MacDonald;-

Dear all
A number of you have asked me about referees fees & expenses so I
thought I would send out this email to clarify the situation with the
various leagues we play in:
1) CDJFL
Mini-Soccer, U11 & U12 – £13
U13 & U14                      – £15
U15 & above                  – £20
Refund of public transport costs or 30p per mile for private transport

2) SSYFL & SCWGFL are both £21 at all age groups and 29p per mile for
private transport

Please note that if you are allocated a referee by the league you are
not entitled to turn it down.
If you have a local referee you prefer to use then I suggest you keep
the league referee secretary informed of the dates he is available.
Remember to reclaim the cost of referees from the club

As a matter of etiquette, make sure you confirm match details with the
referee by telephone Thursday night at the latest, have someone meet
the referee on arrival at the ground, show him to his dressing room
and offer him a drink, provide him with 2 match balls and linesmens
flags in his dressing room and ask if him if he would like to be paid
before or after the match. If after, make sure you pay him promptly
and don’t keep him waiting. Offer him a drink after the match and
please resist the temptation to discuss controversial incidents with
him, however tempting that may be!!
